Privacy Policy
SkyReason (“we”, “our”, “the app”) is a mobile application that helps anxious flyers understand turbulence forecasts and airport weather conditions before their flights. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
By using SkyReason, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
When you sign in, we receive from Apple: - A unique, anonymized Apple user identifier - Your name and email address, only if you choose to share them (Apple allows you to hide your email using “Hide My Email”)
We do not receive your Apple ID password or any other Apple account credentials — authentication is handled entirely by Apple.
When you search for a route, we store: - Departure and arrival airport codes (ICAO) - The date you searched for - The flight number, if you choose to enter one (optional, used only for display purposes) - The date and time of your search
This data is stored in your private CloudKit database, tied to your Apple ID. We do not have a central server that collects this data across users — it stays within Apple’s iCloud infrastructure, scoped to your account.
Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. We only receive confirmation from Apple’s StoreKit framework as to whether you have an active subscription, so the app can unlock full functionality.
We use the information described above solely to: - Authenticate you and keep you signed in - Show you turbulence forecasts and weather data for the routes you search - Let you revisit your recent flight searches - Verify your subscription status to unlock app features - Provide customer support if you contact us
SkyReason relies on the following third-party services to function:
| Service | Purpose | Data shared |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Sign in with Apple | Authentication | Apple user ID, optionally name/email |
| Apple CloudKit | Storing your profile and search history | Data described in Section 1.2, stored in your private database |
| Apple StoreKit | Processing subscription payments | Handled entirely by Apple; we receive only entitlement status |
| NOAA Aviation Weather (aviationweather.gov) | Fetching METAR/TAF weather reports | Only the airport codes you search for — no personal or account data is sent |
| Open-Meteo | Fetching upper-air wind/temperature data for turbulence calculations | Only route coordinates — no personal or account data is sent |
None of these third-party weather data providers receive any information that identifies you personally.
Your flight search history and profile data remain in your private CloudKit database for as long as you use the app. You can request deletion of your data at any time by: - Deleting the app, which removes local data from your device, and/or - Contacting us at the email below to request deletion of your CloudKit profile and search history - Revoking Sign in with Apple access via your Apple ID settings (Settings → [your name] → Sign in & Security → Sign in with Apple), which will also prevent future sign-ins to SkyReason
SkyReason is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to: - Access the personal data we hold about you - Request correction or deletion of your data - Object to or restrict certain processing - Withdraw consent at any time (e.g., by revoking Sign in with Apple access)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
Your data is protected using Apple’s standard iCloud/CloudKit security infrastructure, including encryption in transit and at rest. Access to your private CloudKit database is scoped to your Apple ID and is not accessible by other users or, in practice, by us directly outside of aggregate, non-identifying operational metrics Apple may provide.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, contact us at:
